There are tabs on the side of the GrassGator head. Push one of the tabs towards the head to open it.
Once the head is open, remove the spool from the spool housing. Unwind any leftover line and remove it from the spool.
Cut the piece of line you will be loading into the GrassGator head. The GrassGator Extra Heavy Duty Bump & Feed head (model 3630) can hold up to 10ft of .105 line or up to 14ft of .095. Fold the line in half.
The 3630 spool has 3 concentric rings. If you look between the rings you should see two things: two holes or eyelets on the body of the spool one on top of the other (red arrows) and a u shaped slit on the edge of the middle (2nd) ring (yellow arrow). The line will go through the holes on the body of the spool and the center loop will be held in place by the U-shaped slit on the center ring but first you need to determine which way you should install the line.
Take the new piece of line and insert one end in each of the holes on the body of the spool following the setup determined on step 4. Pull the line evenly and snap the center loop in the U shaped slit on the middle ring. Wind the line around the spool in the direction indicated by the arrows on the spool: left hand thread is winded clockwise while the right hand thread should be winded counter-clockwise. Keep each section of the line on its own half of the spool (top or bottom). Leave about 6" of line loose.
Insert one end of the loose line in each of the metal eyelets. Push the spool back into place and pull on the ends to make them snug. If you are having issues keeping the line on the spool, use the slits cut on the top and bottom rings of the spool to keep the line secure. Make sure you unhook the line once the spool is back in place.
Make sure the spring is back in place. Replace the bottom cover with the spool in it making sure the tabs snap back in place.
