There's no need to remove the spool to re-load the line on a GrassGator 7800.
Align the arrows on the bum knob with the eyelets on the head.
Pull out what's left of the old line.
Cut the line to be loaded. The 7800 takes up to 18' of .095 line or 20' of .080.
With the arrows still lined up with the eyelets, insert an end of the line into one of the metal eyelets.
Keep pushing the line until it comes out the other eyelet. Pull the line until it's even on both sides.
Figure out if your trimmer has a left or
right-hand threaded shaft.
Most straight shafts trimmers are on a left-hand (reverse thread) while most curved shafts are on a right-hand threaded shaft.
If you are not sure, unscrew the GrassGator head off your trimmer and see which way it unscrews.
On the bottom of the spool housing you will see:
"Straight shaft turn left"
"Curved shaft turn right"
If your trimmer is on a left-hand (reverse) thread, you should wind the line to the left or counter-clockwise.
If your trimmer is on a regular right-hand thread, you should wind the line to the right or clockwise.
Push the bump knob towards the head and turn it in the direction determined in the previous step. Keep pushing and turning to wind the line until you only have about 6" left on both sides.
You are now ready to use the GrassGator head.
If all the line shoots outs out when you bump the head, make sure that you wound the line in the correct direction. Remove the line from the head and start the process again, this time winding the line the opposite way.
