The instructions on how to remove the head depend on your trimmer and which installation method you followed to install the head
If:
With the shaft now locked, keep turning the GrassGator head to unscrew it. It will work as a wrench on the recessed nut or bolt. If it's been on the trimmer for a while and is hard to remove, spray some lubricant or solvent right where the recessed fastener is and let it soak for 30 minutes. That should help loosen the nut or bolt. Be careful not to force it or you'll end up rounding up the hex-shaped recessed hole which will ruin the GrassGator head.
If you need additional instructions on how to lock the shaft of your straight-shaft trimmer, check the straight shaft installation instructions:
The GrassGator head consists of two halves. One half has pins and the other one has holes to accommodate the pins. With the GrassGator head off your trimmer, pull on either half and it should come apart.
Remove the old blades and install the new blades on the pins. Doesn't matter which side is facing up (flat or beveled) as long as all the blades are facing the same way.
Press the halves together to close the head. Make sure all three pins are completely inside the holes. Screw the GrassGator head back into the shaft.
Pro Tip:
If you are having issues with the head torquing itself down making it hard to remove, after each use, wait for the head to cool down and unscrew it. Then screw it back on. Because the head is self-tightening, it's easier to remove it after just an hour of use than a whole season of compounded time.
