The following instructions and recommendations are based on the data gathered through our 25+ years in the market. We do our best to list most brands and as many models as possible. We also try to make sure the information provided is accurate but please note, manufacturers can make running changes that we are not aware of until reported by a customer. We do our best to list those exceptions but keep in mind this is just a guide and the best way to troubleshoot an installation is to interact with a Technical Support Specialist either over the phone, chat, or e-mail.
Most Homelite trimmers follow the curved shaft instructions even if the model is a straight shaft. The GrassGator kit comes with the bolt required for most installations.
Homelites are really light trimmers. Due to the smaller engines and coiled spring shafts, most Homelites are limited to using our lighter heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700 or 8010
Most Honda models follow the straight shaft installation instructions even if the model is a curved shaft and can use any of our heads.
We fit models HHT25SLTA, HHT31SLTA, HHT31UNBA, HHT35SLTAT, and the Versa SSST. The majority of the models use a 10mm x 1.25 left-hand threaded nut that is included in the kit. Some older HHT25SLTA (not all) and the HHT35SLTAT take a 5/16 x 18 left-hand threaded nut that is not included in the kit. If after trying all the fasteners in the kit (screwing them to the left) none of them fit then call, e-mail, or chat to request the correct size.
We have customers report that the shaft on the HHT35S is shorter than 1". If that's the case then none of our heads will fit.
We fit most Husqvarna trimmers however, some models require either a fastener that's not included in the kit or a spline cover that's only included with our models 4680 and 4600. If your model requires a part that is not included with the GrassGator head, you can request it free of charge by calling 1-800-210-9949 between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM Pacific or by e-mail at techsupport@cmdproducts.com. Remember to include your trimmer brand and model, mailing address, and the GrassGator head model you are installing.
Here's a list of successful installations, exceptions, and parts needed:
Most curved shaft Hypertough models follow the curved shaft installation instructions while straight shafts follow the straight shaft instructions.
Straight shaft Hypertough trimmers 27ccs or more can use any of our heads. Curved shafts less than 30ccs and straight shaft models with engines less than 27ccs are limited to our lighter heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700, or 8010.
Model H2500 follows the curved shaft installation instructions using the correct bolt included in the kit.
We fit the majority of John Deere models. Most of their models both straight and curved follow the straight shaft instructions. The most common fastener size for John Deere trimmers is a 10mm x 1.25 left-hand threaded nut that's included in the kit.
John Deere trimmers 25cc or more can use any of our gas heads. Smaller engines are limited to our lighter heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700 or 8010.
Most Jonsered trimmers follow the straight shaft installation instructions even if the trimmer is a curved shaft. The nut required for most installations is included in the kit. A few older models require a 12mm left-hand threaded nut that is not included in the kit. If after removing the original head as a complete unit you end up with a shaft that's larger in diameter than the hole on the GrassGator head then call, e-mail, or chat to request further instructions and the correct nut.
Models GTS2128 and GTS2228 require a cover for the splines that are only included with our models 4600 and 4680. If your GrassGator kit didn't come with one, call 1-800-210-9949 between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM Pacific or e-mail techsupport@cmdproducts.com to request one.
Most Kawasaki trimmers follow the straight shaft installation instructions.
Model KBL26A uses the smallest brass-colored nut (8mm x 1.25 left-hand) included in the kit.
We don't fit model KTFR27A. The threaded shaft is less than 1" long.
Lawnmaster models NPTGSS2617A and NPTGSP2617A can use any of our heads but they require a spline cover that's only included with our GrassGator models 4600 and 4680. If you bought a different GrassGator model that doesn't cover with the cover, call 1-800-210-9949 between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM Pacific or e-mail techsupport@cmdproducts.com to request one.
Makita trimmers follow our straight shaft installation instructions and can use any of our heads.
Models EM2652LHN and EM400MP take a 10mm x 1.25 left-hand threaded nut that is included in the kit.
We don't fit model RBC251.
We fit most Maruyama models. They follow the straight shaft installation instructions and can use any of our heads.
A few older models take a bolt that's not included in the kit. If your trimmer takes a bolt and neither one included in the kit fits, call 1-800-210-9949 between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM Pacific or e-mail techsupport@cmdproducts.com to request one. Remember to include your trimmer brand, model, mailing address and GrassGator head you are installing.
