The following instructions and recommendations are based on the data gathered through our 15+ years in the market. We do our best to list most brands and as many models as possible. We also try to make sure the information provided is accurate but please note, manufacturers can make running changes that we are not aware of until reported by a customer. We do our best to list those exceptions but keep in mind this is just a guide and the best way to troubleshoot an installation is to interact with a Technical Support Specialist either over the phone or via e-mail.

There are many different models of Craftsmans with as many different head styles: Bump and Feed, brush cutter and fixed line.

We fit most models with original Bump and Feed style heads. Very few have shafts that are too short to install a GrassGator head. Some curved shafts follow the straight shaft instructions and vice-versa.

The 10mm nut required for most models is included in the kit.

Recommended Heads

For straight shaft models 25cc + and curved shafts 27cc + that follow the straight shaft instructions we recommend the following GrassGator models: 3600, 4600, 4620, 4680, 3630, 7800, 4750, 5600 , 5620 or 8010.

For smaller curved shaft trimmers (less than 27cc), straight / curved shafts that follow the curved shaft instructions or models with fixed line heads we recommend the following GrassGator models: 3600, 4750, 5600, 5620 or 8010.

Installation Instructions

For the most part curved shafts follow the curved shaft instructions while straight shafts follow the straight shaft instructions however, most models of the 234-XXXXX and 358-XXXXX series follow the straight shaft instructions.

It has been reported by customers that we don't fit the following models:

* 316.711200, 358.791170 due to the shaft been shorter than 7/8"

* 316.711700, 316.711190 and 459.51214 that come with a fixed line head and / or has no threaded shaft underneath.
