The following instructions and recommendations are based on the data gathered through our 25+ years in the market. We do our best to list most brands and as many models as possible. We also try to make sure the information provided is accurate but please note, manufacturers can make running changes that we are not aware of until reported by a customer. We do our best to list those exceptions but keep in mind this is just a guide and the best way to troubleshoot an installation is to interact with a Technical Support Specialist either over the phone, chat, or e-mail.
Most Black & Decker trimmers are AutoFeed type trimmers. We have a couple of GrassGator heads made specifically for this type of trimmer. Black & Decker trimmers can't use any our gas heads.
The only model reported so far is the BM25TEC. Due to the way the spool housing wraps around the shaft, it requires a special installation kit that we send free of charge. Because of this, it's not compatible with our Bump & Feed heads.
The GrassGator kit comes with the nut or bolt required for most models.
The only heads we recommend for this brand are GrassGator models: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, or 8010.
Due to the smaller engines, the only heads we recommend for all Bolens are GrassGator models: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620 or 8010.
The GrassGator kit comes with the nut or bolt required for most models.
Models BL100, BL110, BL150 and BL160 follow the curved shaft instructions even if the units are straight shafts.
Model BL250 follows the straight shaft instructions.
Craftsman trimmers have been in the market for a long time. There are many different versions and styles. Here's a list of the reported successful installations and exceptions:
We fit most CubCadet models however, some of the older models come with a Fixed Line head. Those trimmers require an adapter and follow a special set of instructions. Due to the adapter needed for the installation the selection of GrassGator heads that will fit these models is limited.
A few select DeWalt battery-operated trimmers can use our lighter gas heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700, or 8010. DeWalt trimmers are NOT compatible with our Brush Cutter model 4680.
The main requirements to use one of our gas heads are: a rear motor (the power head is up where the battery is not above the cutting head), and a threaded bump knob that results in a shaft with at least 1" worth of uninterrupted threads.
We fit models DCST922 and DCST972. We don't fit model DCST925.
All models follow the straight shaft installation instructions.
We fit the majority of Echo models. Most of their models both straight and curved follow the straight shaft instructions. The most common fastener sizes for Echo trimmers are either a 10mm x 1.25 left-hand threaded nut or a 3/8 x 24 right-hand threaded nut. Both sizes are included in the kit.
Echo trimmers 25cc or more can use any of our gas heads. Smaller engines are limited to our lighter heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700 or 8010.
Most curved shaft EFCO models follow the curved shaft installation instructions while straight shafts follow the straight shaft instructions. A few models require an 8mm left-hand threaded bolt that is not included in the kit. If after removing the original head as a complete unit you end up with a shaft that's threaded on the inside and, after trying all the fasteners in the kit none of them fit then call, e-mail or chat to request the correct size.
Straight shaft EFCO trimmers 25ccs or more can use any of our heads. Curved shafts less than 27ccs and straight shaft models with engines less than 25ccs are limited to our lighter heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700 or 8010.
A few select EGO battery-operated trimmers can use our lighter gas heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700, or 8010. EGO trimmers are NOT compatible with our Brush Cutter model 4680.
The main requirements to use one of our gas heads are: a powerhead that's up where the battery is (rear motor), and a threaded bump knob that results in a shaft with at least 1" worth of uninterrupted threads.
We fit models ST1534 and STX3800. We don't fit model ST1500.
All models follow the straight shaft installation instructions.
Most curved shaft Green Machine models follow the curved shaft installation instructions while straight shafts follow the straight shaft instructions. A few curved shaft models require an 8mm left-hand threaded bolt that is not included in the kit. If after trying all the bolts in the kit none of them fit, then please call, e-mail, or chat to request the correct size.
Straight shaft Green Machine trimmers 25ccs or more can use any of our heads. Curved shafts less than 27ccs and straight shaft models with engines less than 25ccs are limited to our lighter heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700 or 8010.
A few select GreenWorks electric and battery-operated trimmers can use our lighter gas heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700, or 8010. GreenWorks are NOT compatible with our Brush Cutter model 4680.

We fit models 29402 and 21142, GST80320, 2101202, 2101000, 2101102, 2101202. However, models GST80320 and 2101202 require a spline cover that we send free of charge. Models 2101000, 2101102, 2101202 require a 10mm x 1.25 right-hand threaded nut that we send free of charge.
We don't fit models ST80L10 or ST60L00.
All models follow the straight shaft installation instructions.
Most Hitachi trimmers follow the straight shaft installation instructions. The 10mm left-hand threaded nut required for most installations is included in the kit.
Every GrassGator kit comes with nuts and bolts that must be 9/16" or 14mm across the flats in order to fit inside the hex-shaped hole that moves the replacement head. Some customers have reported that Model CG24EKS has a 14mm shaft which leaves us with no way to attach the GrassGator. If you have a CG24EKS please double check the diameter of the shaft before buying a GrassGator. This has only been reported for the CG24EKS model CG24 doesn't seem to have this problem.
Straight shaft Hitachi trimmers 25ccs or more can use any of our heads. Models with engines less than 25ccs are limited to our lighter heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700 or 8010.
