The following instructions and recommendations are based on the data gathered through our 25+ years in the market. We do our best to list most brands and as many models as possible. We also try to make sure the information provided is accurate but please note, manufacturers can make running changes that we are not aware of until reported by a customer. We do our best to list those exceptions but keep in mind this is just a guide and the best way to troubleshoot an installation is to interact with a Technical Support Specialist either over the phone, chat, or e-mail.
Find your brand
Shindaiwa
We fit most Shindaiwa trimmers. Most of them follow the straight shaft installation instructions and can use any of our heads.
Most Shindaiwas take a bolt that's not included in the kit. If your trimmer takes a bolt and none of the bolts included in the kit fits, call 1-800-210-9949 between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM Pacific or e-mail techsupport@cmdproducts.com to request one. Snapper
We fit most Snapper trimmers. Most of them follow the straight shaft installation instructions and can use any of our heads.
The most common models we've successfully installed GrassGator replacement trimmer heads are S29SS, S27SS, S28CD. The left-hand threaded nut required for installation is included in the kit.
Solo
We fit most Solo trimmers. They follow the straight shaft installation instructions and can use any of our heads. The left-hand threaded nut required for installation is included in the kit.
Southland
The only Southland we have on our database is model S-ELT-2515-CB-E. Any of our heads fill fit but it requires a 1/4" bolt that is not included in the kit. Stihl
Stihl trimmers are really popular and we fit most of them including some battery-operated models. However, the majority of the models currently in the market require either a spline cover, a special adapter, or in very rare instances a nut that's not included in the kit.
Models like the FS56, FS70 and FS90 require a cover for the splines. This spline cover is included in our models 4600 and 4680.
Models like the FS38, FS40C and FS45 require a special installation kit (part no R5603).
Older models like the FS36 require a 12mm that's not included in the kit.

Swisher
Swisher now mainly makes walk-behind trimmers. The only Swisher model we have encountered is the E4-U3000. This model takes a 7mm bolt that's not included in the kit. Swisher trimmers can use any of our heads.

Tanaka
Most Tanaka trimmers follow the straight shaft installation instructions even if the trimmer is a curved shaft. Trimmers 25ccs or more can use any of our heads. Curved shafts less than 27ccs and straight shaft models with engines less than 25ccs are limited to our lighter heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700, or 8010.
The left-hand threaded nut required for most installations (like the SUM500, TBC160, TBC200, TBC202, TBC240, and TBC2110, ) is included in the kit. A few models like the TBC162, TBC220, TBC2510, and TST218 require a bolt that is not included in the kit. The threads on the TBC230 and TBC250 are larger than 12mm or 7/16" which makes the installation of a GrassGator head not possible.
Toro
Toro curved shaft models follow the curved shaft installation instructions while straight shafts follow the straight shaft instructions. Trimmers 25ccs or more can use any of our heads. Curved shafts less than 27ccs and straight shaft models with engines less than 25ccs are limited to our lighter heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700, or 8010.
A few models with tabs holding the spool housing in place or housings that wrap around the threaded shaft like the 51978, 51956 and 51957 require a special installation kit (R5605). TroyBilt
Models BC720, TB42BC, TB90BC, TB304, TB490BC, TB525EC and TB575ES follow the straight shaft instructions with a fastener in the kit.
Some straight shaft models like the TB32, TB255, TB475, TB575, TB65, TB70 and TB80 follow the curved installation instructions with a bolt from the kit. The TB22EC, TB35C, TB3000 and TB4000 follow the curved shaft instructions but take a bolt that is not included in the kit.
Models TB415CS, TB425CS, TB465SS, TB625EC come with a fixed line head that requires a special adapter kit (R5605).
Straight shaft trimmers 25ccs or more can use any of our heads. Curved shafts less than 27ccs and straight shaft models with engines less than 25ccs are limited to our lighter heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700, or 8010.

Vandermolen
The only Vandermolen we have encountered is the L3335G. It takes an 8mm left-hand threaded bolt that is not included in the kit and can use any of our heads. Weedeater
We fit most Weedeater models. They usually follow the straight shaft instructions even if the model is a curved shaft. Because Weedeaters are lighter, household-grade trimmers, we only recommend our lighter heads: 3600, 4700, 5600, 5620, 6700, or 8010. The nut required for most installations is included in the kit.
We have reports that the threads on the SST25 are not long enough to install a GrassGator head.
